What to do in The Hague

Museums

The city of The Hague boasts many large and small museums for almost every taste, well worth a visit.

Whether it is the “Mauritshuis” to view the world famous “Girl with a pearl earring” by Johannes Vermeer (1665), the spectacular “Panorama Mesdag”, a cylindrical painting, 14 m. high, 40 m. across and 120 m. circumference, or the Louwman Museum, with the world’s largest private collection of motorcars (275), including James Bond’s Aston Martin from Goldfinger, Elvis Presley’s Cadillac, or the collection of Formula 1, Indy 500 and Le Mans racing cars.

Restaurants

The Hague has many restaurants for different tastes and different prices, with a large concentration in the city centre as well as in Scheveningen near or on the beach.

Those of you who were at the WGMA World Cup in 2014 and enjoyed the fabulous party in “The Blue Lagoon” on the beach, might be tempted to go there again, but unfortunately it is no longer the way it used to be. The place to be now for lunches and dinners on the beach is “Xiringuito”. This restaurant is a little further south along Scheveningen Boulevard, but well worth the extra steps. Address is “Strandweg 9 in Scheveningen” and if the weather is nice reservations are recommended.

Because of the multitude of options, further recommendations are difficult, but check out this Tripadvisor link for the best restaurants in The Hague.
